Anybody who succeeds in life, in search of him, 5 things will come; money, power, fame, position, opposite sex. Those of you who remain the master of it, will continue to be peacefully successful.
Anyone of you who become a slave to any one of these 5, will eventually lose your peace of mind, lose your character, lose your name, lose everything. In fact, it really doesn’t matter to me how much you have succeeded in life, if you lose yourself, you have lost everything. If you’ve preserved yourself, everything else can be gained.
You know you should be that sort of a success in life, that you have produced all the results in life and you should be able to say, all the success I produced in life, could not still contaminate the core of my being. All the success I have produced in life could not still contaminate the core of my being and that comes only through self-mastery.
Very powerful resources – money, power, fame, position, opposite sex. And they all will come in search of you. Whether you’re a spiritual saint or Ananda or you’re a politician or you’re a sports celebrity or you’re in the entertainment business or you’re an industrialist or you’re a professional, whatever you are, if you go up in life, money will come in search of you. And money will always be in your control.
The day money gains control over you, you will have success, but you won’t know peace. You will have success. You will have the best dining table in the city, but you will never be able to eat properly. You will have a waterbed, but you will not sleep peacefully.
You will have a family but you won’t have time for love. You will live in this eternal hiding from yourself. Power – very powerful. So much can be done if you have power. Position – so much can be done. Fame – perceived reality. And opposite sex – it will draw anybody who succeeds in life.
You’re a woman, men will come after you. You’re a man, women will come after you and it has to be in your control. Modern Panchabhootam this is – money, power, fame, position, opposite sex. And I’ll give you hundreds of thousands of people, who became a victim to one of these 5, defamed themselves, from Vishvamitra in mythology to modern times, all of them victimized to one of these 5. Completely prostituting who they are, for the sake of this 5, victimizing themselves.
People who were worshiped were all spat at, because they became slaves to one of these 5. If you have to ever look even into the eyes of God and not feel a moment of shame, if God has to look into your eyes and say, ‘of all those that I created, I am proudest for having created you’, there is only one way to achieve this, self-mastery.
To be able to say, I actualized all my sources and I produced all the results and all the results could not contaminate the core of my being. I am, what I always was – as the being. The world around me, the success around me, the toys around me has changed but I remain who I always was, self-mastery.
