Mahatria, how to improve focus and concentration?

At the root of all human behavior, there is a design which all of us have to understand.

Attitudes don’t care where you shape them, once shaped, they become part of your personality, whether it is constructive or destructive.

Attitudes do not care where you shape them; once shaped, they become part of your personality, constructively or destructively.

So which means, much before I asked myself this question about ‘How to develop focus on the bigger aspects of life…’ let’s start developing focus on the smaller aspects of life.

When you brush your teeth, don’t do multitasking. Don’t have the phone on, in front of you. When you brush your teeth, brush your teeth, do it with focus.

When you’re drinking your coffee, enjoy your coffee.

When you are having a family conversation, make eye contact with them and just speak to them. That’s it.

On a few things in life, start doing everyday activities small activity. Now cutting the carrot… cut the carrot, don’t do multitasking.

I know I live in a world of multitasking… but I’m saying take at least a couple of activities every day and do it with focus. If possible, start inculcating the habit of quietening your mind. Because those few minutes you have to focus on quietening your mind. So, it integrates the body mind together… Whatever it is!

Take a few activities… I do not want to go into the spiritual dimension of the whole thing. But take a few activities…

Even if you smile, it’s okay. I’m telling you, once again buy the kindergarten notebook, and simply write standing lines without touching all the four squares, one page, every day, for 21 days. Standing lines, sleeping lines, slanting lines… It’s okay. In fact, buy that kindergarten note book and just for a few minutes… Standing line… Standing line… Standing line… And you need a lot of focus to ensure you’re able to draw a standing line within the square, without touching any of the four edges. 21 days just draw standing lines, sleeping lines and slanting lines. And you tell me how your focus is improved.

Why? At the heart of the design of life is, if I can get myself right on the small things of life, it will reflect in my personality automatically also in the big things of life.

So anywhere you want to transform yourself or the bigger aspects of life, find out what is the micro aspect of your life where you have to get it right. By simply getting it right there, it will automatically manifest on the mega aspects of life.

So, one or two activities everyday if I can do it with undivided focused attention… eventually you will find you’re able to do everything with undistracted focus in your life. Thank you.
