Happy morning Mahatria. My name is Vishnupriya. Like you were saying, I am yet to figure out, what energises me but… meanwhile there is something in the back of my head, which just says that I am feeling directionless. Like I don’t know, where I am going. So how do I find direction and all? I don’t know.

Everybody between 14, 15, 16 and 23, 24 feels directionless. Because you are there in the phase for the first time in life, you are feeling directionless. Some of them found direction in life early because of lot of other things. Not because they found, this is, their Swadharma and all. By the time, I realised what is my Swadharma and what is not my Swadharma, I have already become a doctor! So, I remain a doctor for the rest of my life? It’s not that I found at that the age, it looked like, I had to go between engineering, commerce and medicine.  So, between all these things, I somehow felt medicine… So, I went into medicine. Now I have invested too much, so I continue to be. I have already become a C.A. and then figured out, I don’t enjoy numbers, but I have become a C.A.

Now, what to do?

So, some of them have lived the rest of their life defending the investment of their  first 22 years for the remaining 66 years of their life. My family has been in this business. Your family is in business? Okay. That’s when this question will come… okay. Because Daadu started something. So, from the beginning, Papa, was brought up to take care of that business. He was brought up like that. Even when he was three months old, when they ‘baby talked’… they called him ‘future businessman’… like that they made him a businessman! So, he didn’t know whether this is the business he wants to do it or not. He landed up with this business because that family only knew that business. So now they have given birth to children. Whole thing has happened… Your father didn’t think. This is family business; this is family business.

You are a thinking generation. The world has shifted from emotions to information. Information means it’s in the thinking domain. So, right now we are all asking this question,

‘Is my family business, the business that I want to do? Temperamentally, I am different. I have choices. I can do different things in life’.

So, when you’re saying directionless, what all of you are essentially saying is, ‘I know, what I don’t want to do, but I don’t know, what I want to do’. That itself is a nice place. You at least know, what you don’t want to do. Lot of them did not know, they didn’t want to do this.

By the time they realised, this not what I want to do, they were 35.  You at least know

what you don’t want to do. Keep exploring.

Horizontal exposure, vertical expertise, so up to a stage it’s the right thing to do. Try and explore as many possibilities as possible and see what all excites you. Everything will excite you. Few things only will not tire you. Doing which you do not become tired but become energized is your Swadharma.

Swadharma is a, if it’s a big phrase, that’s your expression ground…Doing which you do not become tired but get energized. Everything that you do in life at some stage will drain you of energy. Human being will get tired at some stage because everything that I do in life is not necessarily an energy-draining experience, but it’s a energy-consuming experience.

So, I need horizontal exposure. My interest levels will make me get interested in everything, so you will do everything. Certain things at the end of it, after indulging in it for two days, three days, two hours, three hours after doing two couple of projects and if at the end of it there is a level of inefficiency that comes in because of the tiredness that you go through. I like a lot of things in life, but there’s one thing that I know when I do, I don’t get tired.

I get energized, when I teach. That has to become your vertical expertise! Because you are blessed with a world where you are surrounded by such amazing people in the inner circle of your life, so you will see this mama and you will feel, ‘I think I should become a doctor and build hospitals. You will see that mama and you feel that, ‘I think, I should build industries and have hospitality industry’. Then you will look at Daadu, then you will feel, ‘I think I should contribute so much to the society and I should create a spiritual renaissance’. Then you sit and ask yourself, all these things which excites you, all these things, do they energize you? ‘No, some of these things end of the day, I want to sign off by 8 O’clock, I want to sleep’.

They are not your Swadharma, they can be horizontal exposure. Vertical expertise has to be only in the direction of doing which you never become tired, but you get energized. That is your Swadharma. There you will have to see, how you can create your success.

Right now, you feel you have made up for this. Go for this. This world is changing so fast. Three years, four years, five years later, some of these industries will not exist. New industries will come.

At that age, at that maturity you feel you can build your success on this. You can explore that as a possibility. I’m not asking you to be a drifter. Whatever you do, you have to do complete justice to it. You have to give yourself 110 percent to it. But way forward, lot of things can be explored. So, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Right now, have horizontal exposure.

Amongst all these things whatever, you think is the closest that resonates with you, do that for some time. Maybe you will find success there. Maybe that’s your field of expression. Who knows? You might realize through two, three years later. You are cut out for something else in life.

Keep exploring in life.

Go and listen to that Steve Jobs speech, his commencement speech in Stanford, and you will realise there are two phrases there… which I want to share with you and close it. One, ‘Keep Looking, Don’t Settle’. Two, ’Be hungry, Be foolish.’ And I think in those four words, everything is there.
